VII - Multiplication

Faith earns faith just like money earns money. If I use the faith I’m given, it multiplies. In other words, I act upon God’s Word. I obey. I become a profitable servant. If I do nothing, it will be taken from me. I will become unprofitable to God.

(2 Timothy 2:15)  "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

The servant said he was afraid of the master. He wasn’t fearful enough.

(Matthew 10:28)  "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Psalms 111:10)  "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever."

To fear God you obviously would have to believe in His existence. Fear of God is the beginning. Doing His commandments brings understanding.

(Proverbs 29:25)  "The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe." (Romans 8:31)  "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?"

Fear of man refers to our fear of being rejected, ill thought of, persecuted, killed, deserted, or shunned by other men.

(Revelation 21:8)  "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

Do you think God is talking about those that fear Him and keep His Word? Those who are afraid to do His commandments are the ones talked about in this passage. If I fear men more than God, what kind of fool does that make me?

(Isaiah 35:4)  "Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense; he will come and save you."(Rm.12:19b) “…Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”

The only thing between men and God is the key of faith. Will they lay hold of and use it? Or will they disregard it and try to get in some other way? Will they be profitable or unprofitable?
